Fuel Tank Sender for Gauge 218103

Fuel tank sender unit. Different appearance from Original Smiths but same readings at 250 K Ohms empty and 15 ohms full.
Terminal T is for the gauge. The unmarked insulated terminal is for the low fuel level warning lamp.
The arc of swing of the float is set up for an original fuel tank and not an aftermarket pattern part.
PLEASE NOTE CHANGING SENDERS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. THE EXPOSED FUEL IN THE TANK GIVES OFF DANGEROUS VAPOURS. PLEASE CHECK AND ENSURE SAFETY PROCEDURES ARE UNDERSTOOD AND FOLLOWED.
If you have an aftermarket tank in the car, then it is probably 6mm higher than an OE tank. It is possible that the person who fitted an aftermarket tank to a Stag has altered the original sender's arc by bending the wire. Maybe even the amount of swing has been extended by bending the arm stop.
When changing over senders, carefully check the matching of the arc to maintain calibration characteristics.
Please ensure any adjustments are carried out on the bench and not in the boot for safety reasons.
